Today, the start-up RegiÔtels counts 10 employees and looks back on its first year of business presenting positive results. The team helps 11 hotels in the Mullerthal region and the north of Luxembourg to improve their online presence and elaborate digital marketing campaigns.

With this approach, they have reached a target audience of 2.3 million people interested in outdoor activities like cycling and hiking as well as wellness and gourmet travel living within 2 hours of Mullerthal.

As a result of the RegiÔtels strategy, the partner hotels sold €255,000 worth of bookings more than the previous year over the course of 2018. A large part of this sum, €100,000, was earned through private bookings done without using any major online booking services.

“Easier than expected”

Managing Director Gregory Tugendhat is proud of his company’s quick progress: “Starting a company in Luxembourg has been a lot easier than expected. I had support from every level, from ministerial to regional. All of it came together quite simply because Luxembourg takes advantage of its size and creates an environment that is very suited for exchange, discussions and business.”

Another big plus for him is that all the different parties involved all peruse the same goal: to promote Luxembourg and make the country as appealing as possible for companies to do business.

To launch a business within one year also calls for strong partners. Gregory Tugendhat recalls that in the beginning, he started with the framework of an idea he believed in. However, in order reach the next level with his project and raise funding, he had to present it in a particular format that would allow him to obtain support.

I was rather fortuitous in coming across a number of people at Luxinnovation who helped me structure a business plan and challenged me on different concepts,” he explains. “In the end, RegiÔtels did not benefit from RDI funding but due to the consulting service received, we could establish ourselves with more credibility.”
