The United Kingdom is leaving the European Union (Brexit)

The UK and the EU have agreed on a flexible extension of the Article 50 period to 31 January 2020. During this period, the UK remains a member of the EU with all the relevant rights and obligations. This means that UK organisations can continue to participate in Horizon 2020 as a Member State, and remain eligible to apply for Horizon 2020 funding. This includes requesting the relevant part of the project’s budget as an EU contribution.

A ratified Withdrawal Agreement

The UK Members of the Parliament have voted in favour of the Withdrawal Agreement Bill, and the agreement has now been ratified by the European Parliament.

The ratified deal, based on the provisions set out in the Withdrawal Agreement, allows for continued UK participation in Horizon 2020 until the end of the programme and for the lifetime of projects. For further details, please visit the UKRO website.
