StijlMarkt is Germany’s exceptional platform and trade fair for young design, trends and lifestyle beyond the mainstream. For a whole weekend it’s home to young designers as well as small creative manufacturers. Founded in 2009 by former design students and with an average of over 100.000 visitors per year, it’s already the most successful platform of its kind in Germany.
Now StijlMarkt goes international for the first time: On the last weekend before Christmas, the popular platform transforms the Halle Victor Hugo into an inspirational source of creative Christmas gifts. A unique mix of trade fair and festival shows a matchless range of new products from fashion, design and living to craft foods coupled with interesting side events, exciting workshops and innovative gastronomic concepts.
In contrast to anonymous shopping online, visitors can get directly in touch with the manufacturers, learn about the story and idea behind the products, and, by purchasing, promote independent labels as well as the local creative industry. After all, numerous small companies from Luxembourg will be present at the first StijlMarkt in the country’s capital: Luxembourgish architect Gilles Gardula from “gdesign studio” shows his classically designed pieces like chairs and fruit bowls. Nicole Hansen and her label “Hootli” take care of cold ears with her knitted caps and headbands and fans of refreshing t-shirts will find them at “äddi & merci” by Claude Kohnen. Luxembourg artist Lynn Cosyn inspires with her regionally known illustrations and “Naturpark Öewersauer” offers unique textile products developed in cooperation with Designer Sarah Meyer. Tasty drinks can be found at “Fox Beer” by Catherine Hoffmann, who offer home-brewed craft beer or at “Ramborn”, a handmade cider using traditional Luxembourg ingredients. Popular luxembourgish author Anne Farber from “Anne Kitchen” will share her delicious recipes and those who are interested in jewellery will find what they are looking for at “Rina Oliveira”.
