Secretary of State for the Economy, Francine Closener, presented the new Creative Industries Cluster Luxembourg, bringing together national players in the field of creative industries.

The “Creative Industries Cluster”, set up on the initiative of the Ministry of the Economy, aims to support the economic development of the sector, which includes activities such as architecture, crafts, visual arts – film and audio-visual – design, styling, the games industry, marketing and communication, literature, publishing, the performing arts and new media. His new structure is managed and facilitated by Luxinnovation.

Luxembourg has almost 2,200 companies active in the creative industries, employing more than 6,300 people. In addition to the direct economic value they produce, creative industries play an important role in the development of innovation. At a press conference, Francine Closener said: “We know the social and cultural impact of the creative industry, but we often neglect its economic importance. By bringing together and interconnecting actors, we reinforce both the visibility and innovation potential of this sector, which is undergoing many technological changes and must adapt constantly.”

At the press conference, the Secretary of State for the Economy also announced two calls for projects under the Nation Branding process to enhance the talents and know-how of the national creative industry: Call for projects “Design challenge – Objects Luxembourg” to find an attractive and functional product embodying the many assets and facets of Luxembourg. The challenge is to create a useful object with a high recognition value which is unique for Luxembourg; Call for projects concerning the creation of a promotional medium in the form of short animated films conveying the values ​​and the profile of Luxembourg.

A new brochure presenting the creative industries

The General Directorate for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises of the Ministry of the Economy presented a new brochure featuring Luxembourg’s creative industries at an event of the Luxembourg Creative Industries Cluster hosted by 1535° Creative Hub Differdange. Developed by Luxinnovation in close collaboration with the General Directorate, the publication highlights the importance of the creative industries for the country and promotes the matchmaking platform just made available to Luxembourg’s creative industry stakeholders.

Creative Industries Cluster B2B Meet up: “Building trust is a priority”

On 21 March 2023, the Luxembourg Creative Industries Cluster organised a B2B meetup to promote cross-sector synergies within the ecosystem. Around 40 people attended the event at the Blends Café in the heart of Luxembourg, including company representatives and creative entrepreneurs. The meetup, which coincided with World Poetry Day, was an excellent opportunity to introduce the new Cluster Manager, Kristian Horsburgh, and marked the cluster’s first gathering in 2023.
