The IMD World Digital Competitiveness ranking 2019 is published by renowned institute IMD. It measures the capacity and readiness of 63 economies to adopt and explore digital technologies as a key driver for economic transformation in business, government and wider society.

The top five economies in 2019 were the United States, Singapore, Sweden, Denmark and Switzerland.

Favourable digital framework

Luxembourg is ranked 21st for its digital competitiveness, thus improving its score with three places compared to 2018.

The country ranks 12th in the category “technology”. This is in particular due to its favourable regulatory framework (4th) and availability of capital (9th) . In the latter category, the country ranks 1st in the world for IT & media stock market capitalisation and country credit rating.

Luxembourg also ranks 17th in the category “future readiness”, in particular due to its good IT integration (6th).
