Luxembourg signed a statistical transfer agreement with Lithuania on Thursday 26 October that will help the Grand-Duchy achieve its national renewable energy objectives for 2020.

The Baltic state will transfer a minimum of 700 Gigawatt hour (GWh) between 2018 and 2020 to help Luxembourg fulfil its national renewable energy target.

While Lithuania reached its 2020 targets for renewable energy in 2015, at the time Luxembourg only achieved 5% of its 11% national target.

Luxembourg had previously stated in its national action plan and latest progress report that it intended to use cooperation mechanisms to reach its national objectives.
