On March 30, 2017, the LAC (Luxembourg Automobility Cluster renamed from Automotive Components) along with ILEA (Association of Luxembourgish Automotive Suppliers) members met at FEDIL (Business Federation Luxembourg) to contribute to the CLEPA (European Association of Automotive Suppliers) strategic workshop “Road Transport 2030 – European suppliers’ scenarios”.

Seeing a need to bring them together, the ILEA and the LAC organised a workshop on March 30 that allowed players in the automotive industry to communicate on the research priorities of local companies to the group of experts who will represent Luxembourg at the CLEPA strategic workshop organised for April 6 in Aachen, Germany.

This resulting workshop was a unique opportunity for the voice of the Luxembourg automotive sector to be heard in Brussels, thanks to the participation of various companies including Goodyear, IEE, FANUC, Luxmobility, Smart Grid Control and LIST.

The European Association of Automotive Suppliers (CLEPA) represents around 3,000 companies. The aim of its strategic workshop “Road Transport 2030 – European suppliers’ scenarios” in April 2017 is to define a vision as well as strategic scenarios for the next European Framework Programme for Research & Innovation (FP9) that should start in 2021.

CLEPA intends to define research priorities to be communicated to the European Commission for suppliers in 3 specific fields:

  • energy and environment;
  • active safety, connectivity and automation;
  • advanced materials and production processes

Thanks to the active participation of the audience the group of experts representing Luxembourg’s automotive industry will be able to communicate the sector’s inputs which will contribute to the elaboration of the forthcoming FP9.
