The final of the Creative Young Entrepreneur Luxembourg (CYEL) competition, held at the Chamber of Commerce, brought together nearly 200 people from the worlds of politics and business. Yannick Bontinckx distinguished himself among the 28 applications received and the 10 pre-selected finalists by climbing into the top 3 in order to finally win the award.

Yannick Bontinckx is CEO and co-founder of the promising start-up, which is considered as one of the 10 start-ups to be followed in 2019 by the online magazine EU-Startups. He is “grateful to be among the most creative entrepreneurs in the country”. Mr Bontinckx thus succeeds Antoine Hron, partner of the start-up Klin that specialises in the new generation dry cleaning service.

An exemplary career path

Ziggu offers a project management and customer relationship management platform to real estate developers. Faced with all the complications that the construction of a house can imply, Ziggu has revolutionised the interactions between the different players involved through an integrated digital solution. This tool “includes an interface for each player in a real estate project that facilitates communication between the parties,” explains Mr Bontinckx.

The start-up company was first thought up in Belgium and crossed the border to benefit from the many advantages that Luxembourg has to offer. Previously located at Technonport, it now occupies offices at Boulevard Grande-Duchesse Charlotte in Luxembourg. Ziggu has also successfully completed the Fit 4 Start programme.

“Once again, it was difficult for the jury to make a decision. Ziggu, which has recently appeared in the Luxembourg landscape, perfectly fills a gap in the interaction between real estate developers and clients. This solution dramatically improves the customer experience. I congratulate all the winners and in particular the career path of this former Fit 4 Start participant who reached the top of the podium!” says Stefan Berend, CYEL jury member and Head of Start-up Acceleration at Luxinnovation.

Local taxes and beer

Taxx.lu and Fox Beer complete the top 3. Patrick Malget of Taxx.lu, whose concept is based on the promise of a “tax return in 15 minutes”, won the 2nd place. Finally, the 100% Luxembourgish beer low in carbohydrates and calories created by Pierre Beck and Catherine Hoffmann of Fox Drinks was third. The jury’s favourite prize goes to Flavia Carbonetti, fashion designer.
